Austrian metals firm AMAG Austria Metall AG has again been awarded Platinum status by independent sustainability and CSR rating platform EcoVadis.
In its assessment, EcoVadis placed AMAG in the top 1 percent of companies it assessed in the Precious Metals and Non-Ferrous Metals category this year. AMAG notes that this is the second consecutive Platinum rating for the firm, following a Gold rating the year prior.
Gerald Mayer, CEO of AMAG Austria Metall AG, said in a press release that the rating is more proof of the firm’s commitment to sustainability.
“With the repeated top ranking in the aluminum industry, EcoVadis validates our global leading position in the field of sustainability. We see this award as a clear signal to our customers and stakeholders that, in AMAG, they have a reliable and committed partner for a joint sustainable development.”
EcoVadis measures firms based upon almost two dozen criteria relating to environment, labor and human rights, sustainable procurement, and ethics. Over 100 thousand companies in 175 companies participate in EcoVadis’s evaluations, which are carried out in over 200 industries.
AMAG has long been focused on sustainability, innovation, diversity, and human touch. After over 40 years of aluminium recycling experience, the firm is among the top aluminium recycling companies on Earth. In 2021 AMAG developed a roadmap to decarbonization in the spirit of the European Green Deal which will have the Ranshofen aluminium recycling site operating carbon neutral by 2050.
