Atlanta’s rolled aluminium firm Novelis Inc. announced this week the opening of its Customer Solution Center (CSC) in São José dos Campos, Brazil. The center is dedicated to advancing aluminium beverage can solutions for sustainability and innovation that is prompted by a growing market demand.

Novelis says the CSC will be an area for collaboration among beverage can makers, brand owners, scientific partners, and other industrial and scientific stakeholders. The new 3,000 m2 facility will be a place for those individuals and firms to collaborate on modern challenges in its training rooms, state-of-the-art laboratories, and other spaces.

Greg Schlicht, Senior Vice President, Global Can Sales at Novelis, said in a press release that the CSC is a response to market demand.

“The beverage business is in growth mode and aluminum is quickly becoming the material of choice for beverage can packaging, so we need to be prepared for increased demand as consumers recognize the many drawbacks of other, less sustainable packaging materials. In addition, our customers are seeking to elevate package appearance and aluminum cans provide an ideal, 360-degree canvas for eye-catching, upscale graphics and product branding. We are committed to investing in innovation to maximize these opportunities.”

Philippe Meyer, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Novelis, says that the CSC is his firm’s answer to the ever-changing wants and needs of the market.

“As the beverage market grows and consumers increasingly choose sustainable aluminum beverage packaging, the need to support our customers’ innovation goals also grows. We work diligently to align our innovation plans with those of our customers to ensure that together we meet the needs of the market – both today, as well as tomorrow – as we search for more sustainable solutions.”

Novelis is a subsidiary of Mumbai’s Hindalco Industries Ltd. Based in Atlanta, the firm accounts for almost half of Hindalco’s consolidated revenue. The world’s largest recycler of aluminium, Novelis conducts operations in ten different countries, employs around eleven thousand people, and reported US$17.1 billion in net sales for the most recent fiscal year.
