A new entrant has come upon the polymer pistol scene, as American small arms manufacturer Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc. debuted last month a new 9mm handgun featuring an aluminium frame.
The new M&P9 M2.0 METAL handgun is built with a T6 Aluminium frame holding a 4.25” barrel. Calibered in 9mm, the handgun comes with two 17-round magazines and a M2.0 flat-face trigger.
The M&P9 M2.0 METAL’s slide is cut for aftermarket optics as well, and the Tungsten Gray Cerakote gives it a matte finish to reduce reflectivity and mask discoloration. The pistol also features interchangeable palmswell grip inserts in order to enhance handling.
Andrew Gore, Smith & Wesson Handgun Product Manager, said in a press release that the aluminium-framed firearm represents a new era for handgun enthusiasts.
“Combining the proven performance of the M&P pistol series with the 170-year history of reliable Smith & Wesson metal handguns, the M&P9 M2.0 METAL forges the quality of our past with enhanced modern-day features in an offering that will give an edge to both new and experienced firearms enthusiasts.”
Smith & Wesson is shipping the M&P9 M2.0 METAL now with a manufacturer suggested retail price of US$899.
